Again, layer, upon layer, upon layer of stitches, ad infinitum, transforms soft, supple cloth into a structure with the strength and feel of leather. The sound emerging from tapping on the embroidery is reminiscent of the sound made when playing a leather-skinned drum.
Perpetual motion of invisible particles, which comprise everything in the universe, is the inspiration for the stitchery. The threads form a pattern of (un)entanglements (thank you cousin Anne for that word),
which connect us all with each other and the cosmos.
My newest machine looks like a sewing machine, but it is not, it is a dedicated embroidery machine.
I am using thread as movable type.
A universe of type faces are available to me and with an embroidery program I can create my own type faces.
All of this is meant to enrich the experience of wearing ideas.
